Gas Meters

Once again there are a range of gas meters that are read differently, follow our simple guide below on how to read your meter.

Dial Meter

Dial meters need to be read left to right. Each dial represents a number. The pointers on the dials spin round in a clockwise direction. The number you’re looking for is the number the dial has just passed. So, if the pointer on the dial is between 7 and 8, the pointer has just passed 7 so you need to record number 7. Therefore, the reading for the meter above is: 7041.

Digital Metric Meter

This meter simply requires you to read the 5 numbers from left to right. Ignore the numbers after the decimal point, whatever colour they are. The meter reading here would therefore be: 00544.

Digital Imperial Meter

This meter simply requires you to read the 4 numbers from left to right. Ignore the numbers after the decimal point, whatever colour they are usually red. The meter reading here would therefore be: 1860.
